Timo received his BA & MA in Religious Studies specializing in Buddhism from the Free University in Amsterdam, and has been practicing Buddhism with over a dozen teachers for the last 15 years. He has been encouraged to start teaching the practices in this course by his primary spiritual mentors Rob Preece and Dr. Alan Wallace.

  • Radiant Mind (9 months) with Dr. Peter Fenner.

  • Tasting the Essence of Tantra (4 years) and Deepening Tantric Practice (4 years) with Rob Preece.

  • Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) Teacher Training (5 weeks full-time) with Dr. Alan Wallace and Dr. Eve Ekman.

  • Contemplative Psychotherapy (2 years) with Dr. Joe Loizzo.

  • Sixfold Matrix of Mental Balance Teacher Training (6 months) with Dr. Alan Wallace.

Course Format & Outline

The 12-week course will begin on Thursday January 8, at 18:00 UTC (19:00 Amsterdam time), after the holidays.

The course will be held over 12 weekly meetings of 90 minutes, held every Thursday evening on Zoom.

 

All session recordings, guided meditations, slides and infographics will be posted on a Google Drive you will get access to for the duration of the course and for 6 months after the course has finished.

​

Every session will consist of:

(1) A talk about the meditation practice we will be learning that week, and its underlying philosophy and psychology (~30 minutes).

(2) Guided meditations: two sessions of 15 minutes at first (with break in between), then over the weeks slowly increased to one 30 minute session (~35 min).

(3) Group Q&A and break-out discussions about the practices we just did (~15 min).

(4) Exercises and tools to help you establish a daily meditation habit based on evidence-based behavior change principles (~10 min).

The course does not require any reading or preparation prior to sessions, but optional readings for each session will be suggested.
